Guestbook

This is the second year we have stayed a week. We love it so much, we have decided to return for two weeks next year. It’s just perfect for lively dogs, spacious and secure. That makes it relaxing anyway. However, it’s the absolute quiet and restful ambience of the place that makes it so special. A rare occurrence nowadays. The space, views, comfort and welcoming hosts, really add to this. Pictures and information are accurate. It really is out on its own and provision and comfort has been well thought out. Despite loving Northumbria and there being lots to see and do, especially the wild coast, we find it hard to drag ourselves away from the peace of the cottage. Looking forward to next year already

Wendel Corrigan ,

An absolutely beautiful and tranquil cottage.

Kirstie Kirkham ,

We are four lifelong friends who have ended up far from each other. Over the last six years, we devised a method of spending quality time together by hiring holiday cottages twice a year. We have always had great holidays together but sadly not always good cottages.
However, we struck lucky this year by booking Shepherds Cottage. As we approached along a slightly bumpy farmers' track and Shepherds first came into view, we thought Oh! No, we have neighbours as the property is so big. No neighbours the cottage was all ours to spread around in fabulous size.
it was presented immaculately, spotlessly clean and fresh, the bedding was of good quality l and so so cosy as were the towels. Everything you needed was in the kitchen and it again had a quality feel All four of us voted this was the best cottage we had rented specifically for our needs of peace, quiet and space and being surrounded by nature and the unforgettable stunning views. Because of my mobility issues, I had the downstairs double ensuite...Be warned the bed is so comfy its hard to get up and out.
Thank you so much for a great holiday in your beautiful welcoming Shepherds Cottage

Ann Plumbley,

4 August to 18 August 2023
This was our second visit to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and to revisit the area, as there is so much to do. The cottage is very well situated to be able to get to the coast, as well as places in the National Park. Cottage was lovely and comfortable and had all we needed. The dogs enjoyed the large enclosed garden every morning. Lovely to wake up and see the views every morning with the cows and sheep roaming around. Lynda always very helpful and kind, we have already booked again for next year, thank you

Sarah,

What a find! The most relaxing place we have been to! So comfortable, so remote, so quiet, we had trouble leaving it to go anywhere. You can feel the tensions leaving you as you approach along the track. Made really welcome and left alone except if needed. We've now booked it for next year too. Thank you so much to the owners, such a lovely couple.

Wendel Corrigan,

Lovely comfy, well equipped cottage in peaceful location. Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Shepherd’s Cottage and wish we had booked 2 weeks rather than one. Totally enjoyed the peaceful location and the great uninterrupted views. Thank you for the warm welcome and for allowing us to bring Tim. Enjoyed several evening meals out at the local hostelries. We look forward to making a return trip.

Angela Powell,

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful part of the country. A lovely warm welcome on our arrival. The cottage is second to none, absolutely all needs catered for. Unfortunately our holiday was cut short due to illness but the few days we had were great and we will definitely be back.

Lexy and Martin Hayes,

What a great location and accommodation!
Thoughtfully restored and equipped to a very high standard this former shepherd’s cottage sits in beautiful countryside well away from neighbours and traffic. A truly relaxing location. Our host Lynda was most supportive in ensuring we had everything we needed including a very welcome starter pack after a long journey.
The accommodation was spacious, warm and cosy. The adjacent Cragside Estate (National Trust property) is a must to visit. It combines history and numerous walks around the extensive grounds.
Lynda, many thanks for your support and advice. We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 day stay and we will return without doubt.

Damian & Christa Maye ( Nth.Ireland),

Dawn and David,

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend in this warm and welcoming cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and more, our hosts had thought of everything. The perfect place to relax and enjoy the stunning Northumberland countryside, walks from the door and amazing dark skies at night! We made the most of the log burners and cosy surroundings taking time out in the perfect private little getaway. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will be back many more times now that we have found you.
